Just moved outsoors, keeping eyes closed. HELP

I moved Disco's enclosure outdoors the other day. He has been out there for two or three days now, and today his colors are looking dark, and he is not opening his eyes a whole lot. Kind of keeping them shut, like he is napping. He is getting about 6 hours of sun or more, but not opening his mouth like he is overheated. I also have spots for him to get in the shade. We mist them with the garden hose every couple hours. I tried to acclimate him to the outdoors, by bringing him out for a little bit every other day. Did I move him to quick? Is this to much sun or is he just getting acclimated? Please help, he is starting to worry me. Should I move him to shade?

What have the temps been like outside?

Do you have a way to check his body temp?

I would give him a good LONG, warm, shower, and see if that helps.

Have any pictures?

A warm shower? Its been super hot here...like 82 degrees. Maybe high 50's at night. But its in the 60's at night rest of the week.

Super hot=82F? :p

Super hot to me is 125F D;

Anyhow, yes, a warm shower, not hot, not cold, warm. :)

How is he doing now?

His eyes look like they hurt.. Is this possible sun burn? I have a female who is younger, outside as well. A couple hours less sun a day though, but none the less she is fine. His color is dark and his eyes look as if he got to much sun. So I guess moving him into less sun is what I am going to do, unless someone else has suggestions?

he looks bad..in just a days time.

Maybe he rubbed his eyes on something in the cage that irritated them?

That fake vine looks as if bits of it are coming off, maybe that was it?

Does he seem weak at all?

Do you have a shot from further back, that shows where the cage is placed?

I dont think him being in the sun has effected him negatively.

My bet is its something else.

hmm..u know the vine may not be the problem, but that scheffie, I did break off a few larger branches to fit it in the cage. I know it gives off a strong scent everytime I do that, but not sure if it secretes anything. My GF said he did look weak earlier today. This all just happened today. Hang on and I will upload a quick video of his set up.

Do you have a big pollen problem? Pollen can affect them the same wait affects us. You can try flushing his eyes with plain saline solution

I recommended the shower, in case he had gotten something in his eyes.

Looking weak, and being weak, is two different things. ;)

Im unsure if the "sap" of a shefflera would cause such an issue, but it is certainly a possibility.

Dirt, pollen, blowing in the wind could also effect his eyes.

Im still not sure of what exactly happened in this scenario, but I had an issue with my panther a short while ago, and the first thing I noticed was closed eyes, then weakness, then near death weakness. Not saying they are similar cases, as there just isnt enough information, but heres what happened:https://www.chameleonforums.com/donahue-possibly-poisoned-83116/

Is that a long leafed ficus sitting beside him?

I would try to fill up the cage more, and maybe put that inside it.

How hot does it get where you are?

if its just 82F-ish, I would have him out in the open sun all day long, with enough cover inside the cage to get shade.

On hotter days here, I cover one side of the cage with a shade tarp, that way one side of the cage stays plenty cool.

It can get really hot and humid here in summer. I am in Northern KY. Yep a long leaf ficus, I was considering it, but it would out grow the enclosure in a matter of months. I may do it though when he can see again. Dont want him falling from it. I did the shower, hope it helps.

Id throw that tree in there, and move him to an all day sun area.

Just make sure half of the cage is heavily shaded, via foliage or tarp.

Keep an eye on him, and make sure he can cool off if its too hot.

Get a temp gun to measure his surface temp.

Thats just what I would do though.

My panther had himself at 90-91F for most of the day, with the outside temp at 86F-ish, RH 53%-ish.

With shade and misting, he should be able to stay cool if it goes into the extremes.

i really hope he bounces back. would break my heart if anything happened to him.its supposed to rain all night and tomorrow. should i bring him in? i mean they get days of rain in the wild right? thanks for all the help, its nice to have a source of knowledge for problems i dont understand.

As long as he has enough leaf cover he should be fine and it will probably benefit him.
