a very well needed update! my Jacksons Cham

here is my little guy ive had him for 4 months now how does he look? any one have an idea on his real age?

Holy horned lizard, Batman! He is gorgeous! Based on the size on his horns, he is at least an adult, maybe I year minimum. Other than that, I can't tell. What is his weight currently versus when you got him?

when i got him in june he was 6 grams i think and now he is 21.4 grams

He's still pretty small then. Maybe somewhere between 6 and 8 months. My Jax was 20g at 7 months, but his horns were not nearly so developed.

I believe you have an Trioceros jacksonii merumontanus, the smallest of the three Jackson's species. The full grown horns and diminutive size/weight all indicate this. As for his age I can't say but definitely an adult specimen.

He looks great! One of my favourite species!

Horns do tell alot, id have 2 sayy at least a year..

i googled that species quick and they look identical to mine so with that being said is this his max size? when i bought him i was told he was a jacksonii xantholophus could be why i questioned his growth rate

are these guys uncommon?

I can’t seem to find the thread now but I thought you knew you had a merumontanus; I did. No matter. So to answer a few of your questions, yes he is full grown. The males and females max out at about 3.5” nose to vent. They are fairly uncommon in the pet trade, particularly in Canada. These guys come from Tanzania and for a while there that country had stopped exporting their flora and fauna. For a while there we didn't see much 'odd' species aside from Panthers and Veileds for sale. Recently this changed and we are starting to see chameleons from Tanzania once again. You have one of these recent imports.

If you are planning on breeding, obviously make sure you get a merumontanus female. I haven’t kept the Meru’s in a long while but Action Jackson has certainly had great success raising and breeding his group.

I would be interested in breeding i just need to find a female not too sure where to look as iam in kinda a tough spot for interesting herps (reptiles other then corn snakes,beardies,leos)

a total stv length of 3.5 ya thats pretty damn near how big this guy is
