A true Dubia color morph

I have been noticing more and more of these "morphs" in my dubia roach bin. They look like a gold medal roach more then dubias, besides the black head. This dubia shown has not recently molted and in fact that is its true color.

Hope to see more color morph pictures!:)

must have come in on a boat. call the coast guard!! :D

Lol..... Yeah as nymphs they look just a like and as adults the females look just the same but the males look different that species is just like dubia in every way but they are much fatter I just baught a lot of them to start a colony they gut load better and everything they bet dubia in my book.

looks like we’re still S*L in florida for cubans.

does anyone know any members who work a lot with green bananas? i’d like to start with them, but i’ve never wanted to have a climbing species. just looking for some advice.

advice for you is keep your bin outside.. if they get out you'll be fine then :)

heat, mosture, food. Make sure to check the food for mold-- i just had some moldy carrots kill off a whole colony of regular greens.

Glad my giant greens survived!

oh.. and OP-- thats not a dubia :D

If you can get me some better pics close up it may be 1 or 2 other species or a hybrid.

I will get more picture when i get home, but i am 99% sure the are some-sort dubias. If not a pure dubia then a hybrid. The other males look normal (black). I don't know how hybrids work, but if they are a new species of hybrids could i name them? I will be so juiced if i could:D:D:D

This may help you out, a member helped me with my banana roach questions haha.

To the OP, i have a male dubia that looks exactly like the one you have. Not sure if it's a hybrid or not, it just molted so the wings are somewhat clear.

There are a lot of sub species related to dubia some can breed together some can't. But that one dosnt really look hybrid to me but just a different species.

That is very strange because the guy in the picture was in my breeding colony and i have not added to that bin in over 2 weeks! and the roach in the picture was already in there!

Which species are those? I didnt know there were any commonly kept species that could hybridize with dubia. I know discoids have a lot of pet/feeder species that they can breed with though!

So you dont think these are a new hybrid, darn:(
I will get those pictures soon, but what angles would you guys like of the roach?

I've got a colony of green bananas and the only time they climbed the sides of the container were the first couple weeks I had them. Once they settled into their new home, no one climbed the sides - and I couldn't get one to fly if I tried! I love them. I would just make sure to give them lots of substrate and cork bark.

I will have to look up the names of them but I think there are 3 commonly keap species that can cross breed with them
Are "Cuban brown burrowing roaches" really that much better then dubia?
IMO I think they are way better. They are softer and meaty.

Close up top pics and under pics.

here are some pictures that i took.

i hope this is good enough pictures for you to decide whether or not this is a color morph, a hybrid, or another species. if it is another species please justify your answer. my vote is still the same...it is a color morph.

Looks like you have pure Byrsotria sp. Cuba brown burrowing roach ..... That's my opinion.
