Sean

Coastal Silkworms is in FL which maybe closer to you. Ground is probably fine they dont need to be overnighted.

I would do overnight too. They usually arrive overnight to me if I pick UPS since they're also in California.

Isn't there one near you or at least in the same state?

Cant you add a ice pack? You might be able to use ground because its been a little "cooler" the last few days. You should probably should call and ask them though... because, Im not real shure as I get my silkworms in a day. I did ship 150 silkworms to another forum member a while ago... and I sent them overnight even thought he was in CA as well. You could always get eggs :D

Check the temps between point a and b
2 days is fine if the temps aren't above 85F because the UPS vans to heat up much higher than that
Although the zebra worms are much much stronger than the older standard silkies
you don't want to stress them out too much.
smalls are MUCH more sensitive than the med size.

I live within the same shipping zone as mulberry. They're close enough to me
that I usually drive up there myself and pick up a few thousand vs shipping
as well as a few hornworm cups.

The silkworms do much better in warm temps so... unless there's a major stop over in hellhole Az
you shouldn't need an ice pack.
(no offense intended to the fine & respectable citizens of hellhole AZ) :)

Mulberry will have the experience and if you contact them by phone
they'll advise how to get your shipment to you safely.

Just make sure you have LOTS of fresh mulberry leaves to feed them or chow to mix up.
[ tip ] feeding the fresh mulberry leaves speeds the growth up by at least twice
in my personal experience.
I suggest breaking a large shipment into a few groups and space them out
so that you have a constant supply of large ones vs all of them maturing at once.
1/3 fresh leaves from day 1
1/3 chow then switching to fresh leaves
1/3 chow only.
