Please help me figure out why my chameleon gets black stripes only when they’re asleep

Hello everyone so my chameleons name is Pascal and I really want to know why he gets black stripes only when he’s asleep. I noticed this since Tuesday. I’m a little worried. On Monday I got him a new cage (terrarium). His appetite hasn’t changed and is active like he usually is. It’s my first time owning a chameleon and I’ve been searching for an answer but I don’t find anything. Also I’m not even sure he is a he…. Maybe he’s a she… anyways if anyone knows why this is happening please reach out! He is in my profile picture so you can get an idea of what I’m talking about. He’s dead asleep (so cute) he loves that spot. He lets me know when it’s time for him to sleep! Sorry but he’s the cutest.

Looks like normal male coloration to me. Boy veileds will start to develop black striping as they get older. He is absolutely darling btw
