I know this is not a close comparison. I had decided that a carpet was the way I wanted to go, until hubby chimed in. LOL. He doesn't take interest in my reptiles, so this is pretty big. So, since he's taken interest, I'm now contimplating which one to get. I would like either one. I know there is a huge difference between the two. My husband and I talked it over, and he figures that since we're now going to build a cage for them that will spoil even an Oustalet, we could go either way. If we get a carpet, it will stay in our smaller enclosure until it is ready to move up. I figure you can't really give a chameleon too much room, since they live in unlimited space in the wild. My panther feeds out of a dish every day now, and has a large enclosure for his size, and does great. Eventually, the panther and whichever one we decide to get will be in side by side cages that are 2x2x4.5ft.
I know that carpets are small, and would do fine in a smaller cage. And on the other end, that Oustalet's eat a lot and get huge. I've read that Oustalet's have great personalities, and that Carpets do as well. Also, should I look at a male or female?
So many choices. I can tell I'll have more than two chameleons by the time this is over.
