Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Male Veiled chameleon, 5 months old, been in my care for 3 1/2 months
Handling - Never
Feeding - Eats almost entirely crickets. Eats once a day for as many as he will eat within several minutes. Crickets are gutloaded with flukers food and hydrate, also feed crickets various vegetables like collard greens.
Supplements - Dusting crickets with exo-terra calcium+d3 once a week and exo-terra multi-vitamin once a month
Watering - I use a little dripper which drips constantly and i spray in the tank at least 3 times a day for about 30 seconds or until it is well sprayed. I have not seen him physically drink for a while when i spray but he goes under the dripper sometimes and lets it hit him in the head.
Fecal Description - Droppings are all normal, dark color and white, never tested for parasites
History - nothing up until this point has ever been wrong with him
Cage Info:
Cage Type - cage is all glass accept for the screen top (will be changed to all screen for adult cage) dimensions are 12x12x18
Lighting - for heat i use a normal 75w incondecent bulb, for uvb i believe it is a zilla 10.0 18'' uvb strip
Temperature - hotest point (highest point) is about 95 degrees and the coldest point at the lower point in the tank is 85 degrees. i measure using 2 thermometers one strip and one that doubles as a hydro meter. the most acurate way i measure temperature is with a temperature gun that i use to check all areas of the tank
Humidity - humidity level is usually 40-50%, i keep it at this level by having a dripping system running constantly and spraying several times a day into the tank. i have a humidity gauge on the inside of the tank that shows this
Plants - only live plants are pothos
Placement - the cage is in my room which seems to be a high traffic area which i know is a bad thing, i keep a fan blowing in my room to circulate air but it is just room temp not an air vent. the top of the cage is about 4 feet off the ground because i dont have a higher place to put it currently
Location - i am located in the midwestern united states (chicago)
My current problem is that he (overnight) became very weak and shakey. he is currently near the bottom of the tank because he dosent have the strength to climb back to the top. he has been very healthy up until this point which is why i believe that it may be some kind of illness that is just draining him of strength. possibly constipation because he appears bloated and hasnt pooped as much as he usually does. it just worries me because obviously a chameleon that cannot climb wont last long and he is just a dark color when near the bottom, advice is appreciated thanks
