his tongue pulled off please help!

Amputated it himself?? That really doesn't sound good. Get him to a vet ASAP!! Explain the situation to the receptionist, and they will take you. They leave spots open purposely for emergencies everyday. There's no reason that you couldn't get him in SOMEWHERE out of6 different vets!

I did explain the situation to the receptionist yesterday. They thought it was horrible but when they close they close and I live an hr and a half away from them they can't stay open for me and none of the emergency vets were reptile specialist. The one I have an apt with is the only one my ride will take me too since its only an hr away. Most places are closed tomorrow for the 4th such as the vet Im taking him too. I'm really doing everything I can for him.

water

All of my chameleons love to be sprayed with my mister full of hot water. By the time the spray gets to them, it is just warm. Try hot water in your mister. Wishing you all well.

He has a little tongue left and he got an antibiotic shot. Getting him to eat or drink has been a struggle. Since the accident he's only eaten 2 wax worms. He's been getting a little bit of water I think though. I'm supposed to give him a shot today. It's supposed to go in the thick base of the tail because that's apparently muscle but it feels awfully squishy to me. Any advice on getting him to eat or drink? He seems to have no urge to want to eat and wax worms are his favorite. When I got him to eat it's been because he opened his mouth to test his tongue or because water was on his mouth and I shoved it in. But he needs to eat and idk how to get his mouth to open.

Some have had success in opening mouths by sliding the edge of a credit card into the side of its mouth. If he won't eat you might want to consider making bug juice. Squish up some soft feeders, a little water, a tiny amount of calcium. Strain to remove any legs, lumps. Draw it up in a needless syringe and gently squirt it in to the back of his throat. Aim to the back as their windpipe is under the tongue. Let us know how you get on.:)
