I don't know the exact name, but it's used for plants... it's green and coated so it does not rust. I purchased this wire from Homedepot sometimes see it available at the dollar store.

Update

I've had this setup running for a few months now...and just wanted to say its still working great! Even though the drain sits in the middle of the tank, it still drains and dries between mistings. I empty the catch basins twice a week and so far have not come across any issues.
