i called my plant nursery concerned with my tree cause its dropped, with the help of the chameleon running around all day, 20 leafs in 48 hours, only 3 leafs total looked moldy or blackish and were on the tree since ive had it no more have came about i cut the black ones off... i think its a watering issue why leafs are dropping and ill check the plants soil under the strate i put on top later today to see if its to dry.

but my nursery thinks the tree might have "scale" and treatment is easy other then removing it from the enclosure. ill buy another tree for the time being if needed 4.5ft trees are only $30 here...

OK MY REAL QUESTION IS WHO HERE HAS HAD EXPERIENCE WITH "SCALE" AND IS IT EVEN ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT NO BUGS ON MINE EITHER THAT NORMALLY COME WITH SCALE, CAN I LEAVE THE TREE FOR A WHILE AND IF IT STARTS MOLDING BAD GET A NEW ONE... BASICALLY CAN SCALE OF ANYKIND HURT OUR CHAMELEONS....

THE THREE LEAFS THAT I CUT OFF THAT WERE BLACKISH HAVE BEEN ON THE TREE THIS HOLE TIME NO MORE HAVE SHOWN UP, THE FALLING LEAFS ARE ALL YELLOW/LIGHT-GREEN/BROWN....

PLEASE ONLY PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE IN THIS AREA RESPOND! THANKS

well i guess never mind guys, i pulled up the strate i put on top of the soil and the soil i totally badely dried out, i took a branch and some fallen leafs into the nursery as well and the plant is fine, just underwatered....

the nursery instucted me on how to save my plant, lots of water over the next few days basically....

anyway if this happens to anyone maybe this post will help!!!!

Wow, how can a plant get underwatered in a Chameleon environment?

I have the opposite problem, mine get overwatered.

have a 5ft tall ficus and only mist the leafs, something i guess you dont have or do, and the coco strate i have on top of the soil pulls any mosture out.... combination of me being stupid and the elements

its nice though unlike most employees at pet stores, at a good nursery everyone is a specialist and can answer correctly any questions i have...

Just use river rock or sunstone on top of the topsoil (can get a LARGE bag at menards for $3)

Substrate looks like it was absorbing any water that might get to the plant
