Cham safe trees and bushes?

I'm putting together a giant outside enclosure and want to ad some larger non toxic plants. Anyone have some good ideas?? Are citrus trees toxic?

I dont know if its toxic to chams but most have thorns, probly not the best choice.
Large hibiscus bush, shefflera trees might be good.

Where are you? What species are you keeping? A veiled is more likely to chew on leaves so the type of tree would be more of an issue for them. Most other species rarely if ever chew enough vegetation to have problems. Citrus or other edible fruit trees suited to your area should be fine (washed off to get rid of nursery fertilizers or pesticides of course). Also Hibiscus. Depending on your area possibly a Ficus alli would work. Potted F. alli are great for large indoor cages. They have a sticky sap when branches are cut, but once the sap dries its OK.

I live in northern California and I keep both Veileds and Panthers. I plan on switching them out. Does anyone know about Japanese maples?

Safe Plants List for Chameleons

Japanese maples are very safe to eat. They also provide some needed vitamis and minerals. Just make sure that not pesticides (especially systemic as this can last up to a year) and no chemical based fertilizers. I mainly use hibiscus and crotons.

Thank you Syn, I did check that one out but I just figured there should be more trees out there that are non toxic. I assume if it's not toxic to humans it's not for them either right?? So confusing!

Well I just picked up a peach tree. Anyone know if this is ok? No thorns.

citrus trees are great, they are non toxic, chams actually like the leaves and thorns, the thorns help them feel secure, another good large choice is purple glory, aka purple velvet, or Royal Purple, it has leaves with an odd texture, you cant miss it, i have one in my outside cage and its non-toxic and provides alot of basking opportunities but also shade.

If you are in Nor cal then avoid putting ficus outside. The summer will be good but the winter will kill them forsure.

My favorite "Large Plants" are Corn Plants. They have very thick trunks and then a large leafy plant from the top. My adult veiled loves it because he can hide on the trunk very well and the leaves are stable enough for him to climb around on.

The one I have is only about 4ft, but I have seen them much larger.
