Sick Chameleon Eyes Closed Not Eating X3 days

Dave is a 6 month old panther chameleon who has always been a vigorous eater, outgoing and very active. She has been in a variety of cages as she has grown; all screen with live plants except while changing from her last homemade screen cage to her reptibreeze (damn crickets kept escaping) she was in a ten gallon tank with a small ficus and some vine for at most 2 weeks (more like a 8-10 days) with a screen top. She did well in there and ate and pooped more than ever! Way easier to catch crickets when they can't escape!

Now in her new environment she has been getting more and more listless, sleeps during the day. Her eyes seem to bother her, scratching and "bulging" them out. She keeps them closed even when trying to move around.

I have started gently wiping them every afternoon about 5pm (get home from work) with warm water on a q-tip and blotting them dry with a paper towel. She opens them up fully and "runs" around then.

Sunday she didn't do much; I let her be.

Monday she ate one cricket (first I have known her to eat since friday).

Today I caught her pooping and it was a tiny gelatinous bit of white with clear goo and the brown part is more gray and gelatinous as well. One cricket doesn't make for much.

She was getting heavily dusted crickets with the herpivite and calcium with d-3 about every other day.

The crickets ate orange cricket food for gut load and some layer hen ration/scratch feed as a staple diet.

When I first noticed her feeling ill, I researched and have now stopped all supplements until I can get the calcium w/o d-3. (tomorrow) She drinks well, and will even let me spray her in the mouth or on the leaf in front of her and drink readily.

Today I also noticed she seems afraid of the crickets...She stayed light colored but gaped as one came too close. She watched it fairly intently until it got too close. There are not a bunch in there, and she gaped at the loner. I gave her some pin head/smalls to see what would happen and she wasn't interested in them either. She drank a bit, crawled around on the top and finally settled onto the umbrella and has stayed there since 655pm or so tonight.

She is stressing me out, she looks terribly skinny just overnight. I don't know how to post pictures in here and I would hate to wake her. She doesn't look so skinny puffed up asleep.

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Ambanja Panther female 6 months in my care since she was 5 weeks old.
Handling - Three times a week or so.
Feeding - Full size crickets, 6-7 generally eats about 5. Every day after work (5pm) They eat cricket orange cricket food.
Supplements - ReptiCal calcium with d/3 and Herptivite (none for the past 4 days)
Watering - Only a hand spraying; 7am and 5pm and 7pm (sometimes) More often weekends when I am home during the day. Several minutes, I see her drink every 5pm spray.
Fecal Description - Has been very healthy droppings, past few days minimal droppings light orange/yellow clear gelatinous with grayish "poop" part. Never been tested, do not see anything of note in the droppings.
History - The long story above.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - A small Reptibreeze.
Lighting - The twirly Zilla light 5.0; basking fluorescent light too. On at 645am till 8-830pm. Turn off earlier if she curls up to sleep.
Temperature - She has a basking spot of 90 ambient temp about 76-78, night temp 65-70. Measure with gauges.
Humidity - I was worried as the gauge showed 30, but I had it in the basking area. I moved it last night, put some wrap around back and one side of cage, was 50 at the lowest today. Goes up to 90 when I mist. Temp/hum gauge.
Plants - Two bonsai ficus and one "large" umbrella plant (reaches top of reptibreeze). Also fake vine and a dowel.
Placement - Cage is only a few inches off the floor on the bottom "shelf" of a ten gallon fish tank stand. It is in a high traffic area as my whole house is high traffic due to size. No fans, but close to the front door.
Location - Panhandle of Fl
Current Problem - Listless, eyes closed and irritated (no goo in them) not eating. Not showing any dark stress colors, staying very light. Will gape at crickets and randomly gape and seems to "breath hard" for 3 seconds or so. Somestimes, it seems she is trying to swallow something, however I got the option to look right down her gaping mouth and there is nothing in her mouth or throat.

Well, there is my book...any thoughts? I can't get time off until Friday to take her to the vet. Thank you all in advance, any sharing of your wisdom would be MOST appreciated.

Oh, and see her white nostrils? I'm afraid to suppliment now that I have learned that's where they excrete them from and hers are so white!

One pic of her Monday feeling sick and a week and a half or so back fat and happy.

That might be the issue. It is known that the light can sometimes bother chameleons, they have changed it a bit but it still can be a bother. Try turning it off and see how she reacts?

I have a tube one on my male; I can buy one for Dave. But turn it off? She can't go without the UVB light! ???

As long as you are supplementing with D3 you should be fine for a day just to see how she reacts while you get her a tube + hood. Don't make it a 24/7 type deal but do it on a day that you can actually keep an eye on her. Just make sure it isn't like... OOPS I forgot to turn it on a week later.

Well, I could switch Dave and Ramsey's lights. Ramsey has the tube one and I can switch them out in the AM and have Dave under the tube light and buy him one tomorrow at lunch and they can both have one. When I seperated the cages from side by side to above and below I had to get Dave a new light and my local place didn't have a tube light so I just got him the "twirly" one.

Alright, that sounds like a better plan then lol. See how she does with that... Also, just as a bit of precaution... I would also recommend going to the vet with her. The lights have been known to irritate eyes and when they have irritated eyes... kinda hard to eat when your eyes are being closed. Sometimes though, it could be a flag for other things. So just keep an eye on her tomorrow. Keep us updated, we all would be happy to help! ALSO get a fecal. Just in case :)

I have paper towels as substrate, so I can take the poop too! Hate to drag her out, but she seems to really like being held of late. She just relaxes and lets me pet her and seems like she like she likes it. (lots of likes) She will get the tube light tomorrow for the day and I will buy a new one as well so they can both have one. I'm also gonna get some new bugs while I'm there, the city place only has the meal worms, but the last 35 ct cup I got had 6 in it and I drowned them when I sprayed lol....taking the empty back for some new ones; we will see what kind of customer service Petco has!

The first Cham I ever had was a male veiled I got when I was a kid with no clue, he got crickets with no gut load or supplements, mice of appropriate size when large enough, never had a light and got a plethora of weird cages...he live for many years until his free roam on the porch interested a cat! Damn these "new" chams! lol Scaring me! Ignorance is bliss!

See how *SHE* does...also, just took a look at her, sleeping with her mouth ever so slightly agape...she did that last night...not too hot? 70's at the moment, will cool down to at least 70, maybe 68 tonight. Her strength might be down and can't/ won't waste energy keeping it closed? Humidity OK. I wish she was a puppy I could cuddle and comfort and sleep with. :(

Since no one else pointed this out....
your temps are a bit too high, lower temps around 82-85 are better for females, can help with reducing clutch sizes.
also, your supplement schedule is wrong.
you need a calcium WITHOUT d3 for every feeding,
calcium WITH d3 2 times a month
and a multivitamin 2 times a month.

toop much d3 can be an issue here with the eye thing,
ALso, I would get a dripper set up for her, so that when you arent home to mist, she still has access to water.
orange/ yellow urates are signs of dehydration.

Lol missed that... Saw eye issues + compact bulb and zeroed in on it

I knew I need to changed her vitamin schedule; thank you for giving me a good one! I am getting a new light and will get the calcium w/o D3 today. Too late to set up her dripper this morning, but I can get it going this afternoon. She actually woke up this morning and moved around a bit after spraying :) Thank you again!

Dave was awake and moving around when I got home today, eyes open and bright! Not sure if she ate, but it seems like some crickets are missing! YAY! Thank you all for the help; Ill will keep you updated!

Glad shes doing better!
Im sure you know all about laying bins right?
Also, you cant get plain calcium at a store, you have to order it online.

Just to chime in here....you live in Florida(The sunshine state lol) so get her outside for some natural UVB as much as you can! It will do a world of good for her. I take my chameleon outside every single day there is sun outside. You might want to invest in an outdoor cage as long as you have the luxury of year round sun and warm temps. I know it gets cold sometimes in FLA but in general you know what I mean.
