Video of Guin trying to get to his crickets

Guin always climbs down to 'help' me when I restock his cricket supply. (He actually has to share these crickets with several other pets, but I'm pretty sure he thinks they're all his :) ) I know he can't reach the cricket bin when it's pushed all the way under the free range, but he sure does...

Jacksonii xanth female giving birth right now!

Jade is in the process of giving birth! This is my first experience with a live bearing cham babies. I'm so excited and scared and nervous right now. Question for the experts: how quickly should the babies by getting up and walking around? I've seen a few of them wiggling but none have...

    screen tent as outside cage

We just set this up today to test it. So far it looks good and it's very easy to set up. All we needed to do to make it chameleon proof is weigh down the bottom flaps, as our cat demonstrates in the second photo :) Let me know what you guys think!

2 humidifiers looking for good homes

We have 2 old but functional cool vapor humidifiers for sale for just the cost of shipping. They work well, but we just don't need them. If you're interested in one (or both) send me a PM with your zip code and I'll calculate what it would cost to ship it to you. -Suzanne

    Breeding Jacksonii

This is the first time for me that I'm trying to breed chameleons that don't live together (my breeding experience is currently limited to pygmies and melleri). Twice now, one week apart, I have introduced my 2 female jacksonii xanths separately to my male. The females, Mara and Jade, were...

drinking buddies AKA Melleri in the Mist

Guin, Chaucer and Merlin were all sitting under the same misting nozzle today (and they have 8 to choose from). I decided that warranted a bit of photography. :) Melleri in the Mist Guin really wasn't as dark as he looks in these pics btw... zoomed out a bit Merlin barging...

I just thought some of you might like to see this drawing I did of our iguana Jake. For me this one is special because I don't think I've ever worked so long on one drawing. :) Anyway, here it is: So Happy It's Thursday! - Suzanne

    How old are these girls?

I picked up 2 jacksonii females at the MARS show today. They are supposedly CB but I have some serious doubts about that. Atleast they look to be in very good shape. I don't have any pictures yet, but I did weigh and measure them. They are 15 gr and 3" SVL so they are still juveniles / sub...

    slide show of male-female interaction

slide show of Chaucer chasing Guin Now that Guin is the only male in the free range with 2 females he's been strutting around in his courtship colors. He has made some attempts at seducing the females but so far without any luck. Yesterday I decided to try to take pictures of one of these...

    Warning about overfeeding young melleri

Since there are a lot of young melleri out there at the moment I thought it prudent to share this account of my friend's CB melleri that suffered a prolapse due to overfeeding. The keeper of this melleri had been feeding it very liberally from when she got it at 4 months old. Everything went...

outdoor plants (trees?) in moderate climates

I'm finally getting close to setting up an outdoor enclosure for my chameleons and I'm wondering what plants to use. The standard chameleons plants aren't preferable since they don't survive the Maryland winter. I'm really looking for plants or trees that can stay in the enclosure year round...

    Oscar: my almost 4-year-old Jacksons

Oscar is one of those easy-going laid-back chameleons. I've had him for more that 3 years and he's the chameleon I've had the longest. The first picture was taken shortly after I got him, the second and third are from 2006, the forth from 2007 and the last two are from today.

    this is just funny

I don't know how many of you are familiar with fark.com and it's forums and the phenomenon of the Rick roll (where a link takes you to a video of Rick Ashley's Never Gonna Give You Up instead of something on topic). Well, some enterprising person with waaay too much time on their hands made...

my one remaining CB melleri baby

Alright, I'm getting a little too dramatic with the title, technically that are still 5 baby alive of the clutch I hatched out last year and technically I have 4 CB melleri... BUT only one of my CB melleri is from the clutch I hatched out (and 2 are 3.5 years old now :) ). And that was a very...

Jake the iguana turns 20 this year!

Our iguana, Jake, is turning 20 this year! My husband got Jake in 1991 through the local Humane Society. Jake (and his 'brother' Elwood) had been rescued from a burning apartment. Jake was in pretty bad shape and very mean at first. But after years of 'training' my husband managed to get Jake...

new picture of my CB melleri

The little guys are really changing now; their horns are coming in and their colors are more green/white and less black/white. So I thought it was high time for a little 'before and after' Before (less then 1 week old): After (more than 3 months old): And even though their...
