My new little guy

I picked up my 1st crested gecko yesterday! He is all setup and slept all day My only worry so far is if he will eat. I got him the repashy diet and one of the magnetic dish ledges but when I put him by it he just tried to walk in it! Will he just eventually taste it or is there something I should do like put it on the ground for awhile?

With my boyfriends cresteds.. you never really see them eat the diet food - i'm sure they do. But since they're nocturnal they probably eat when you're asleep and it's dark!
