So I was just feeding my chameleon and found this little bug in the cricket box. It is a few millimeters long. It usually just crawls around. So I gave it a box with some food and water (green jelly). Anyone know what this is? It is like a mini centipede
I can't really tell since he is in his basking/mad "mood". Under the chin is puffed up and when that happens the body gets larger at that exact moment. So how often do you feed him and how old is he?
He is a 1 year old male veiled chameleon. He eats 7 crickets every other day. The crickets are also gut loaded with Zilla Gut Load Mix. I dust with Calcium without D3 everyday, With D3 twice a month and the Multivitamin twice a month. He looks pretty normal to me. Basking temps are 88-90 degrees...
So I tested the LED bulbs and they bring my temperature to a 86 for my veiled chameleon (1 year old). I know that this is too little but I've switched to a 60 watt house bulb and it just makes my temps too high ( 150+). I've also tried lowering the basking but still is around 100. I've used a 40...
So I've had two bulbs burn out in the last month and decided to get a LED bulb that lasts really long. Should it be ok for my chameleon or will harm be done? Its a Philips Slimstyle LED Lightbulb and the brightness is 800 lumens. The ones that burnt out are Zoo Med Daylight Blue Reptile Bulb.
I would say check the temperature and if its too hot the try to find something just to sit under the lamp. Also if you want , you can also lower the basking spot. Usually its supposed to be about 10" away
For under $100 there wont be too many good ones. I say spend a little more on Aquazamp.com or Mistking.com . They have the best Misters around and you will get what you pay for around ($125). There is cheaper misters from reptile brands but I don't think its worth it because all the bad reviews.
