Mantis meal

Not that great of pics, but I haven't even attempted anything in forever, so thought I would post. I am shooting single shot with no burst using a flash and I was surprised to get pic 2 and 3 so close together. The only reason my hand is in the pic is because I was going to move him back a few inches to get a longer tongue shot, but he was quite adamant about eating the mantis right then, so I just went with it.

Great shots! Although I'm a little sad because the mantis looks like my pet mantis, Mali. I originally got her as a treat for my panther but got attached. I really love the work you do.

Thanks all!

cool as sh*t, now I want a tutorial please
Looks like an official photography studio in the background! Awesome shots!
This is actually the most basic setup I have ever done with shooting chams. I have a piece of Grapewood mounted to a tripod in the middle of the room. I took down my thick black fabric shower curtain and hung it behind the setup with 4 hooks screwed into the ceiling. I only used one flash and it was mounted, of all places, directly to the camera and facing straight forward with a diffuser attached. Plugged in the remote shutter release for my other hand and that is it.

Do you breed the mantis? Or just buy em as you need em?

Very cool pics btw
I buy as needed. I really should breed them and not sure why I don't. I guess I like throwing money away.:)

That's very interesting. I'll have to give something similar to that a try sometime. I don't know anything about photography, I just point and shoot with my iPhone lol
