Kidney problems?

Ive been reading forums and have read a couple different cases where kidney problems has been the issue, causing gout and other problems.

Not that my chameleon is having any problems, i was just wondering what causes kidney failure or damage, in a chameleon?

I had a female jacksons and we were told by a specialty vet, she had MBD, most likely due to giving birth at a young age... I agreed, since you could tell she had a fracture:( due to week bones. I was just wondering if that wasn't her whole problem, i now think that she maybe could have had gout due to the swollen joints she had also.

Any way, just trying to learn more, so i can better the future for my chameleon now, and any others i may own in the future.

Thanks for any replies

One of the major reason (not limited to) of kidney failure is dehydration,
could be a side effect from medicine (I forgot which one.. either Baytril or Albon is quite harsh on kidney).
Gout can also comes from over abundance of high protein in your chameleon's system.
(One of the reason I always avoid feeding my chameleon with fish food, dog food, cat food, etc- some might disagree with this)
