Eating Dead Crickets?

Is it normal for juvenile panther Chameleons to eat dead crickets? A few if the crickets always drown in small puddles of water on the bottom of the cage, and when I come back to look at the Chameleons, the dead crickets are gone, is that something that Chameleons do? I didn't think they were scavengers. Thanks!
