Hello,
I have 7 chams, 1 subadult male blue bar, 1 sub adult male yb red bar, 1 adult nosey faly male, 1 subadult nosey faly male, 1 juvi nosey faly female, 1 subadult blue bar ambilobe female, and 1 subadult jacksonii male. All males are in 4x2x2 screen cages, females are in 18 18 36 screen cages. All cages have ample vines, silk vegitation, live large hibiscus organic soil plants (males), girls have medium schefflera with organic soil. I have a promist pm-60 misting system, with males having two nozzles and girls 1. I feed crickets, supers discoids, Phoenix worms, occasional butters or wax worms. I live in florida, but in a deed restricted community, so chams are in the garage. Have heat lamps on when daytime temps below 75, and on at night if below 65.
My question.... I use reptisun 10.0 T8 bulbs and reptisun T8 hood w/reflectors. Large cages get the 36" bulb, smaller get the 18" bulb. My bulbs were due to be changed this month, but my Service dog had some unexpected vet bills, which will recur for next 2-3 months, so I can't plan on replacing bulbs till probably June 3rd when I get my disability check. I normally dust feeders with exoterra calcium and repashy superpig everyday, twice a month (1st and 3rd Saturday) I dust with calcium With D3. The 2nd and 4th Saturday I dust with exoterra multivitamin. Since bulbs are at end of use (about 7 months now, so will be 10 months old by time I can replace them), should I increase frequency of calcium W/D3 to make up for lack of full uvb? If so, how frequently? Also, weathers getting warmer here lately (low 70 ' s to mid 80's), how much time in natural sun would help make up the deficiency of the decreased uvb output from the old bulbs? And if I could get each cham say 15-30 minutes daily in full sun, what should my supplement schedule be? Lastly, what is the best brand of supplements for chams? Thanks Jill @ Kodachromechams
