Think my cham is at its last day :(

Story: Cham had MBD and broke her leg in the process and in the process of getting her to the vet come to find out she must of fell and broke 3 legs total. The vet put her on glucose and braced her broken legs. Dave came over and took a look at her and helped me out on putting her in a smaller cage since he was not walking or trying to eat.

So hard for me to post this! With all the help from Dave and the local vet that she seen last week I believe my cham isn't going to make it. I just got a call from my girl friend and she said the cham is very yellow and her tounge is hanging out and blood red and she isn't even opening her eyes or moving any part of her body. She said every once in awhile she will take a breath but its so small you can bearly see her inhale.

I've been hand feeding her since last week along with water and glucose like the vet said but it looks like it's not going to help.

Just a word to all the new cham owners! Please read up on the chams and their needs before getting into it. This was my fault for rushing and not checking up on everything before buying her. So please please please read before buying a cham.

Thanks to everyone here and all your help! I know a whole lot more then I did before and will continue to read up on info here before buying another cham just so I know everything is good.

Sorry to hear that you Cham is not doing very well. Please don't let this discourage you and continue to spread the word about proper care of Chameleons.

oh dear ,im sorry how awful , poor little guy, at least you admit that it was your lack of experiance its a very sad and hard lesson to learn im afraid as reptiles are not as easy to keep as the shops make them out to be and its very sad you had to learn this way. i hope he pulls through but it doesnt sound good .i do hope you have more success in the future and just make sure you know exactly the needs of your animal before you get him next time no matter what it costs!! sorry to hear this news.katt:(

Thanks everyone but it's official she passed at 2:13 PM. She started to turn black and there was no sign of life left in her. I feel so guilty for this and I won't let it happen again.

I'm sorry for your loss :(. I've read your previous posts and was hoping for the best. Good luck with your next cham, cause I'm sure you'll be getting another. :D

I am feeling sad for you and your girlfriend. It is a loss when we lose one of our little ones.

The funny thing is the shops make it look so easy because they usually don't know what they're doing either.
And sorry about the news, hopefully he pulls through.

Howdy tbs350z,

Sorry she didn't make it. You tried a lot harder than many keepers but sometimes there just isn't much that can be done :(. When you are ready to try again, there are many keeper/breeders here that have healthy ones available.

Gosh I'm really sorry to hear about her. It's so hard when you're rooting for the animal to live and they just can't hang on. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

sorry, I didn't realize the post was old too. But w/e...still must have been hard on you. :(

Losing one is never easy.. I know that first hand too.. No matter how old the thread is, its still important to know what can go wrong and how to help. Sancho rocks!

Sorry to hear Tim!

I didn't see this thread till now. Sounds like things are going a bit better for you this time around. You did a lot for your cham, as Dave said, more than some.
