Tarantula's?

Anyone keep any?! If so what kinds..

I have a question, and I don't mean to thread jack, sorry Crruxxy, but what is the fascination about turantulas? I have seen many people with them, but I don't understand what is great about them, can someone enlighten me?

I keep a couple of spiders, nothing fancy though. As my first spiders I didn’t want anything too aggressive so I stuck with the easier species to start. I think they are pretty neat.

I have a free ranging ornamental baboon. Seriously...

I bought this spider in a custom made enclosure that had circle cut outs with screen. I thought nothing of checking to see if the screen was @#$!%@^%@@$ METAL!! Whoever put the thing together used cloth screen. I could not believe it....CLOTH!!!!!!! It was gone the first night i bought it..Do you know what it is like putting on your shoes everyday? How about putting on a shirt or pants from the closet? Wait wait how about getting under the covers to go to sleep? Yea its pretty awesome.

Some of the colors on tarantulas are stunning!
Here is my A.versicolor when I first got it.

I have seen some cool looking spiders. I don't know if I would get one. I think they are kinda cool. I would Probobly get one if I came across a good deal. I Probobly would like them if I started to keep them.

omg! I would freak! I hate spiders! They creep me out but not as bad as roaches!!

There are also some nice roaches!

I had a couple more I'm sure but can't think of them! I got out of the hobby sometime in 2010. Once I started getting more chameleons. I had a pretty aggressive collection though. I would handle my maculata all the time.

Of all the LUCK!!! My wife wakes me up at 5 this morning screaming there is a huge spider on the wall! Half asleep i knew it was this baboon! im thinking @#%R@%#$@%^ why cant this happen while i have been up all day. Last thing i want is my reflexes to be slow from being asleep. I get up and go into the room. Well he looks MUCH bigger than when i got him. I want to say this before i go any further. i am not a spider guy and only have this from a combo buy. So here this spider is on the wall and im thinking kill it or try to capture this thing. So i opt to capture..I find this small clear tote about the size of a shoe box. These things live up to there name. When i went to go over the spider. When i was about a foot away it jumped at me but into the tote. Needless to say the tote made it to the wall real fast and spider is captured!! Hearts pounding thinking about it.

Believe me. If i didnt have all these animals...This house would be bombed 2 times over and a third time just to be sure. LOL Maybe even a forth!

That would require me taking the lid off and thats not happening hahaha! i can tell you this though..it is fuzzy hairy and has lots of legs. Fast as #$%^ and has been known to not only bite but bite lots of times!

Totally agree! small ity bity NON POISONOUS spiders i let live. everything else dies. i find Tarantula's really neat. as long as they stay in a enclosure. if i ever got one it would stay in an aquarium period. not that i would get one bc my Fiance gets me to get rid of the tiny spiders in the tub lol. but those big hairy things are way to gross.
