Hi guys,

What substrate would you use if you regularly using a misting sysytem. i often hear about the benefits of not having a substrate but with out this would there not be a build up of water from the misting?

paper towels or regular news paper. i have to change mine daily and i just mist my guy wiht a hand sprayer.

Even if you used a substrate there would be a build up of water, or a soupy mess. Best to go with no substrate and a good drainage plan!

doesn't that stuff give off a green dye? and i'd be real careful if that is staying even a lil wet by the time the next misting comes on

no green dye, not yet at least. i use a superfine mister so any water that does get on it is a few drops from the plants dripping, but ill make double sure its not retaining moisture for any length of time.

I just keep a plastic container inside and drain it when the dripper is done. And yes sometimes it gets all over but i use a sponge and clean it up if it doesn't dry up, which it usually does. My husband and i started a reptile cage business awhile back and he has a design for a new cage, made of wood so it looks as nice as your cham, with a drainage system built in that hopefully will be done soon though. Right now we have the ones that are on our website for the bigger guys which makes it soooooo much easier. You just empty the hidden bucket at the end of the day..
