You could use a heat source that doesn't give out light for night time use. But you're going to have to experiment a little to make sure you get the correct temp drop at night.
You could get a ceramic heating bulb, which is not ideal as it gives out radiant heat and would still create a hot...
Also, are you gutloading your crickets. They shouldn't really die within 24 hrs. Give them something with a little moisture to keep em alive.
I use grapes, carrot, orange & greens to gutload my crickets. All the vitamins then get passed on to your cham.
Also I believe that many veiled...
My Panther wont cup feed with crickets, but will eat mealworms & waxworms from a cup. I fashioned a little climbing frame using bamboo skewers & cotton which I place in the cup. When the crickets climb this frame, he picks em off usually as they get to the top.
Maybe try some different...
Fill a bowl with hot water (not boiling or you'll melt the plastic) then stand your misting bottle in it for a few minutes & check the temp. This way you won't be contaminating the water in the bottle at all.
Impossible to say without a post mortem, but a viv full of peat with misting, dripper & humidifier is gonna lead to a lot of stagnant humidity which can cause pulmonary infections.
I initially planted my viv with substrate covered with woodchip & moss, but I noticed after a few days that it...
Hang him on the line of course !!
Just kidding ! Took advantage of the rare sunshine here in the UK to take "Trigger" outside for a bit.
He was kinda freaked out at the whole outside world thing though, went dark and kept looking up !
But he did show some good colour when he...
Cute little guy.
I would get some smaller diameter vines & branches for him to hold onto whilst he's small or he's gonna suffer some falls. You need something small enough for him to grip.
Thanks guys.
Thought the bulge looked very male but I'm a complete newbie. Good to know.
What's up with the dark brown colouration then ? Just moody ? or an indication to something else ?
edit: sorry missed the question. He's around 4 1/2 to 5 months. He's shed twice in the 5 weeks I've...
Well my nosy be was sold to me as a male, but the shop owner admitted he couldn't guarantee it as they're hard to sex when young.
Today (he) looks very dark & appears to be gravid like colours. See Below.
When taking these photos (he) went light again (see below) but went dark again...
I use the exo terra too, as the temps in the room do fluctuate. Is ok for now, although most will argue it's not ventilated enough, but I will need to go bigger when my cham gets bigger & I'll go down the custom build route.
You could buy the big viv now & section it off into a smaller...
Looks like zero ventilation in that kit. And sand is a definate no-no. When you visit this shop I suggest you give him some of the links from this thread. Looks as though the owner has no clue as to a chams needs.
Must be making a tidy profit though, as you'd be going back every few months...
Hey Catherine896. Wildside Reptiles in Newport sometimes have Panthers in. Not too far from you, just need to pay the toll for the bridge ! In fact their website says they're available (August list so could be 3 weeks out now).
Do you have a local reptile shop you trust ?
If so, why not ask if he can holiday there ? I'm sure if they have space they would do it for a small charge...
New environment would be a little stressful but less stressful than a five hour trip to scotland.
Thaks opihiman. I managed to find that article & can see the slight bulge on trigger so it may well be the start of gular edema, so I will cease the use of the T-rex dust and get some calcium supplements instead & see how it progresses, if it gets worse, a trip to the vets will follow. There...
