I need some advice ASAP. Here's the situation. I live in southern California, and my wife is living temporarily in southern Washington. We have a clutch of veiled eggs which are nearing parturition. They should hatch in a week or two. Right now they are here with me in California. The plan was...
If anybody would like a free male flame-crested gecko, PM me. I'm in Simi Valley, CA. He's about 2 ½ - 3 years old, I think—I can check my records. My two males are fighting each other to the death, and I don't have the time, finances, or space to set up separate enclosures for both of them. I...
I regret never getting around to building him a bigger cage, and I also regret not staying on top of his parasites. If I had, he would probably still be with me. More frequent cage cleanings and more quality outdoor tree time would have helped too. I think this is a good indication that I should...
Mescalito passed away peacefully this morning. I'll miss my little friend—he was unique. I buried him the same way I want to be buried—interred directly in the Earth. Here are some pictures of his funeral. Sharing them will help give me a little closure.
It was about 30 days ago, so I think we’re in business. The female panther at Theresa’s was sold, BTW. One of the employees bought her and intends to breed her. She even thinks she can save the eye, but that’s questionable. It looked like it was completely necrotic a month ago.
All of them are large and well formed—does that indicate viability? What else should I be looking for? Or are you simply asking if she mated during the period preceding the egg laying? The answer to that is yes, so I assume we’re having babies in a few months.
I didn’t. My wife just gets anxious about these things, and she forced me to ask here. Judging from the size of the eggs, I don’t even see how she even managed to pack 25 of them into that little body of hers, much less more than 25.
Our veiled was ready to lay eggs last week, but we couldn’t fit a bucket of sand in her cage. So we took a 40-gallon upright aquarium and filled it with 100 pounds of damp play sand, and let her have at it. She dug a tunnel all the way to the bottom and deposited 25 eggs in one corner. Is there...
Both are in a 24” X 24” X 36” enclosure with a homemade divider between them. When she gets her horny colors, we remove the barrier and just leave them alone with some New Age jazz playing in the background. She goes over to him and makes herself real obvious. He basically ignores her, but if...
We have a male veiled that I’m 100% convinced is gay. That’s the only explanation I can think of. We’ve got a girl who practically throws herself at him, and he couldn’t care less. In fact, he gets hissy if she won’t take no for an answer. Seriously, I don’t know what his major malfunction is.
This was when we first obtained him a couple of months ago. The gray discoloration along the spine looks pretty much the same, but the flaps are a lot better now. Sorry, Ibesok; not trying to hijack.
It's restricted to the dorsal crest and two small spots on his flaps. I'll try to post a pic. There's a pic of him somewhere around here, I'll see if I can find it.
Judging from both the responses in my thread and the PM’s and e-mails I received about the cage, I feel confident that there will be substantial interest in these pans. Quite frankly, I’m amazed that somebody took the initiative to do this—well done! I’ll certainly be contacting you at some...
