R. brevicaudatus in a 75 gallon tank

Hey forums! It's been an obscenely long time since I've posted anything on here. Though, thankfully, that means everything has been going great for my now 2 year-old veiled, Azzy, and I.

But anyways. So I've been talking with a friend for a while now and have really gotten excited by the prospect of raising pygmy chameleons after having spent many hours looking into them. My friend has connections to local pet shops, so we're able to acquire a 75 gallon tank (never before used) for no cost. My question for you guys is how many pygmies would it be safe to put in there? Or is a 75 gallon tank, for some reason, not acceptable? I know the male/female ratio in smaller tanks is usually just one male per x-amount of females, but what about for a larger tank like this? I know plenty well that rushing into things like this is a horrendous idea, so all your input is much appreciated! :)

from what i know, its 10 gallons for the first pair, and 5 gallons for every extra chameleon. i would give each male its own 10-15g with 1-2 females for him. i'll leave you up to do the math. also, i this would be a pretty decent sized colony, so i would try and only buy/order CB brevicadatus with a true apox age, and too ensure they are nice and healthy. brevs breed and lay all year round, so you want to have good healthy chameleons to do so, that wont die out of nowhere due to unknown diseases, parasites or old age, all in all i hope this helps.

btw, nice score on a free 75 gallon tank.

I had two males in a 55 with lots of foliage and the bigger one still found his way to the smaller guy and would 'dominate' him. Be careful and make sure there are lots of visual barriers. I wouldn't get more than two males and maybe 10 females. Or less females if you plan on keeping the babies.
