Quick Question??

I just bought some springtails and I am going to try and breed them for my Brev viv. Do I just throw in some dry uncooked rice in the springtail culture for their food?

When I had springtails for my dart frogs I kept them in bark mulch that I added enough water to the bin to have about an inch of water at the bottom of a 4" deep bin. I fed them fish flakes for the most part, but they will eat rice too. Josh's frogs would be a good resource for care/feeding as mentioned.

However, if your viv is well established, you should be able to add them directly to your viv, and you should be able to get away without feeding them. They will eat the dead leaves and cham poop. One of the benefits of keeping them in there :D. You could also try the tropical isopods too.

As others have said, you shouldn't need to feed them much, if at all, in a vivarium. As long as the substrate is nice and moist, and there's dead leaves, crickets, or other decaying organic matter, they'll pretty much take care of themselves. :)
