Please Help me if you can. My Panther Chameleon needs help

My Panther Chameleon has had these grayish discolored bumps slowly develop over the last month or so. One bump was on the outside of his eye and there were maybe three bumps on his back and tail. He was still acting normal, eating well, drinking water, etc.

This last weekend on Saturday I realized it was time to take him to a vet because more of these bumps were showing up. Also, his eye was starting to get a goo in the mornings, to the point where he couldn’t see out of that eye. With a Q tip dipped in warm water, I could get it off/out of his eye and he could see again. I also tried to shower him down everyday to wash his eyes out. I was trying to figure what vet to take him to and I got all these recommendations for Riverside with Dr. Rossi. Everyone said he his expensive but is worth it. Even though it was 45 mins away and pricy, I still went there.

On Monday I took him to the Riverside Animal Hospital and Dr. Rossi wasn’t in.. and wasn’t supposed to be back until Thursday. So the women working there took a fecal sample, and found that he had worms. They treated that by a de-worming solution in his mouth, and they gave me eye drops for his eyes. As well as a $100 bill and another appointment on Thursday. So each day using the eye drops he gets worse and by Thursday I can tell my chameleon is in pain. His eyes are turning the grey color of his spots and the goo is becoming more abundant. I can tell he didn't react well to the eye drops.

Thankfully through all this I am still getting him to eat, only out of my hand right in front of him (he can’t really aim well either). I haven’t gotten him to drink much water though.

When I went to the vet on Thursday (yesterday) the doctor asked me about humidity and ventilation, thinking this could be a fungus. My humidity is between 60 and 80% and it’s very well ventilated. So he cut one of the bumps off of him and put in a solution. Apparently they will know no longer than 10 days…
They gave me enrofloxacin drops to give him by mouth every other day. And just told me to up it to 2 eye drops a day (which im staying at one) and to buy a fungal cream of 1% to put directly on his bumps. As well as, a bill of $140 dollars which I could only pay 110, and they took that…

So today is Friday and his eyes look extremely worse. Almost to the point where they look infected. I don’t know what to do now. I've gone broke and he's doing worse. Please help

hi there, hopefully someone from cali will respond with a qualified vet from your area. definitely looks like a infection in the eyes and possible viral or either a bacterial/fungal infection on the body.

generally i have good luck with terramycin on eye infections.

on the skin it sounds like it is past topical treatments as it has spread to different parts of the body. if any open sores have formed on the body i would dilute providone iodine to a mild tea solution with bottled water and clean the areas until you see a vet.

It looks like it could be fungal or bacterial...but you do need testing to be sure. Its also important to know what bacteria or fungus it is so it can be treated properly.

Do you mean Riverside in the Toronto area?
