A new home for 'George'

Ok, for a few days I have been reading so many posts. Got so many ideas and thought if I am going to be a good owner to George, it is best I get started.
So yesterday I went and got all the goodies and today hubby and I set out to make George his new home.
I know I still need more greenery etc, but would like to show some pics so far.

This is what our George was in firstly:

I will be adding some more pictures here soon...

I would get the lights out of there so he doesn't burn himself. Try cutting out a section on the top and replacing it with screen and set the lights up there. There are terrible stories about chameleons burning off parts of their tails and the bottoms of their feet getting burnt.

get rid of that coil light. those are bad news for chameleons. put heat lights on outside like pssh said. you dont want a burnt baby.

that coiled bulb will give your cham some serious eye problems. I would suggest ordering a reptisun 5.0 linear bulb. I would keep that coiled bulb off in the mean time.

Aside from the coil light, the other bulbs look like the heavy duty reptile heat lamps. These should be ok as long as they are the correct wattage and positioned properly above the cage, suspended if necessary to get the proper gradient. Looks like a young veiled so you'll want around 85 degrees f. for his top basking area.

What you'll want to do is cut a square out of the top of your new enclosure, install screen, and suspend/place the proper lights there. http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/2007/12/lights-and-lighting.html for some great tips.

Everyone has already covered the changes, so I just want to tell you George is happier already. The new cage looks good, tell hubby great job. I will look forward to seeing more of you & George.:):)

research should have been done before building....everyone has coverd it....get the lights out...burns...get the coild light out.....eye problems...
