Ok, so I purchased a young male veiled chameleon 3 days ago whos name is Milo, I'm just worried that he is not happy. I don't really see him as green as he was in the pet store, He eats a good 6-8 medium/large(pet stores suck with catogorizing crickets) crickets a day which i dust with calcium. I've seen his poops so i know he is pooping, but i have never seen him drink. his basking temp is at 87 and the rest of the cage is a good 79 - 80 area. He has one live Pathos plant and I mist him 3-5 times a day. Usually when I go to work in the morning, when I come back and a few more times in the day. One thing that I think could be wrong is maybe me stressing him out, i've seen him hanging off a vine with only his tail so i got worried and helped him up but letting him walk on me hand and a few other times that he was crawling on the ceiling and i didnt want him to fall. any information on what i could be doing wrong is appreciated here are some pictures taken right now. 12086769_727609280716760_208055008_n.jpg

Welcome to the forums and congrats on Milo. I keep veileds and they are awesome chameleons. I think he's probably still settling in and getting use to his new home. I recommend more greenery in the top area of his enclosure. You might also get the lights up off the top of the cage so he want get a burn if he hangs under the lights. Also they sometimes just go through a brown stage.

I'm attaching my blog for new keepers. This way of keeping veileds has worked very well for me over the years.

Get him more cover to hide, specially at the top, and just give him time to get used to his world being turned upside down. Hang a pot if you have to.

I can't tell from the picture but keep the lights about 6-8 inches away from his basking spot while maintaining a good temp. Young ones will hang upside down, mine did it. She stopped for the most part eventually. You try and discourage that by giving them plenty of other ways to get around so they don't resort to climbing the screen. Even then, mine tends to do it every now and then.

His basking heat lamp hangs about 8 in above the cage with some more room from the lamp to the basking spot, the uvb bulbs on the other hand are on the cage
