Dr. House of Chameleons
I spent today trying to catch up (unsuccessfully) after being away at the Daytona show all weekend. I was working at the Reptmart booth. I got to meet a number of people I hadn't met before and see a lot of old friends. Unfortunately, I was far busier then I expected at the booth and it was pretty hectic trying to catch up with people while the show was going. Thankfully I was able to catch up with a lot of people after the show ended each day.
Being as busy as I was at the booth, I only got to power walk through the show once and really didn't see everything I wanted to check out. I did take a few minutes to take some pics of a couple species I didn't have good photos of at Nick Mole's (First Choice Reptiles') booth and then I took some pics of a few animals that came home with me today.
First a couple pics from Nick's booth of two species I didn't have great pics of.
Uluguru One-horned Chameleon (Kinyongia oxyrhina):
Kenya Pygmy Chameleon (Rieppeleon k. kerstenii):
Next, this is an animal that some of you may have gotten to see but many of you may have missed. A young male Globe-horned Chameleon (Calumma globifer):
A lot of you mentioned the Parson's Chameleons (Calumma p. parsonii) that were at the show. There were 3 (2 subadults and one juvie). Because of how long it would take to get CITES papers to send them back to France, 2 of the 3 came home with me (and the third with Mike) and Mike is going to sell them for the owner. Here are pics of the two that came home with me:
The two parsonii are real nice animals. I think the younger animal may be a female based on the coloration of the eye turrets and the shape of the rostrum but can't know for sure. The older male might be visiting with my female until Mike finds a new home for him...
Finally, I picked up a baby Indian Spotted Pond Turtle (Geoclemys hamiltonii) to add to my group. It's pretty cute if I do say so myself:
Basking with it's eyes closed:
It was nice seeing those of you that stopped by and introduced yourselves at the show and sorry I was so busy and couldn't chat more.
