moving questions

I am going to be moving to a new home in a couple of days and i've heard that moving a chameleon can be highly stressfull. Its not very far at all just about 10 blocks. anyways i was wondering if there is anything that i can do to make this move easier for my chameleon. I plan to leave her enormous cage the same as it is now but i cannot keep her in her cage for the duration of the move. What should i put her in? i'm sure she'll probably be the last thing i move since she is my only worry about this move.
oh by the way she is a veiled and about 1 1/2 yrs old.
any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!!!!

thanks!

maybe set up a smaller cage and move her into that before the move, maybe do that tomarrow that way she can get used to that and move her, then stick the smaller cage inside her normal cage once everything is moved and let her come out of it when she is ready...i dunno, this is what i did with gliders when i moved them lol, maybe it will work for chams

put her in a shoe box with a towl in it for the 10 block ride.
if you have to set up her cage again let her sleep in it.
she will fall asleep after a bit of restlessness.
i had to do this to take mine to the vet

If you can leave the cage in one piece great! Move it to the new home and then move her. The shoe box is a perfect way to move her. Make sure there are some holes for air. Put her inside with a towel (as said above) and place the box in a dark/quiet room or closet. You will hear her knocking around a bit at first. Leave her be for 20-30 minutes or so. Then take the box and put it at the footwell of your car and drive her to her new home. Try not to shake her around or let light into the box. She will sleep the whole way. When you open the box she will be all green and happy in her sleeping colors. Allow her time to 'wake up' let her climb out of the box. Do not pick her up when she is all groggy, it will stress her out. Just allow her to climb out of the box into her cage. If her cage is all the same as before she will prolly just give you a dirty look for subjecting her to a dark box and then find her way back home. With some time back in her cage she'll forget all about the trip.;):D

I have done this with my boy Jake a couple of times for Vet visits. Always works.

i used a kritter keeper with paper towel in bottom. vine across middle and all but one side covered. when we got home i left her outside in her outside area for a while to "make up for the trip"
