Just an update a month later - he's even bigger now. Think he could end up being a monster cham :P Though that may lead to a shorter life I still think it's pretty cool how much he's growing.
My guy keeps trying to shoot for my fingers whenever I put my hand in the cage. I had been handfeeding him to help him get accustomed to me. Today he just reeled himself all the way in and bit my finger :D Funny as that was I'm still afraid he could hurt himself.

Mine is already in his 24x24x48 and seems very happy with it. He's the same age as yours or thereabouts.
Sounds like he has a major infection... possibly stemming from his previous surgery...
But I'm not an expert and even if I was I would need to be able to examine him in person. He needs to go to a vet asap... If you don't want to put him through the stress of surgery or can't afford it then...
