Yeah, that is what I heard as well. They recommend piercing the larvae before feeding to help with digestion, but ick. I guess I'll just try it for myself when I get a leo since there may be some individual variation involved.
They also said most leos just don't like to eat BSFL, but that's a...
Ok, this is a very important take! Since you have experience with Leos do you know how they do with black soldier fly larvae?
I saw those in legit Leopard Gecko husbandry communities being cautioned as less than ideal, but I worry to your point about that not being scientific.
Yes! I think there is a deep set flaw in mindsets somewhere because I've heard even from current chameleon community experts that they believe imports always need to be available to support a captive-born population because of avoiding inbreeding, maintaining colors, etc. Why??? Why can't we as...
Exactly, no one is saying buying eggs is a good idea. Buying a 3 month old from a breeder is still best. But people will buy eggs regardless because people are selling them, and we wouldn't have the best interest of the animals in mind if we didn't try to help educate the people that do buy eggs.

I can be like a sponge of information when it comes to new hobbies and I've pretty much read all of chameleonacademy.com, listened to the podcasts of interests, seen all the social media and youtube content of the major chameleon personalities, scoured youtube for chameleon documentaries (I...
I just opted to flat mount the wedges inside the enclosure. That itself was easy with some pilot holes into the frame and the provided screws, but then you have to make holes through the top aluminum screen to clear the mist heads. You could drill a small through the screen first but I ended up...
I realize it's probably an unpopular opinion but I don't believe in bringing politics into hobbies. Generally laws are passed for good reasons, and if the best thing to do as a society has a diminishing effect on the hobby we love, then so be it. We should accept this.
This is the same effect...
Here's my first time chameleon build so far. Open to any and all suggestions to make it better.
It's a Zen Habitats 2x2x4; the only difference is I have a second screen as the bottom for easier drainage so there's a picture of what that looks like since I know a few folks were interested. Also...
