Remote humidity and temp monitoring with Ambient Weather WS-0800-IP

I just picked up a Ambient Weather WS-0800-IP internet weather station to monitor my cage, and I'm pretty pleased with the result. For less than $100 I've got graphs on a web browser with about 5 minute resolution as well as real time remote monitoring on my phone or whatever. The "hub" needs to...

Fungus picture? Time to go to vet?

I don't loom over him, just shooting the video. Yes, I need a good shower plant. Here's a video of him going for a stick bug, after a while. Fast forward to 2:30. He really likes the stick bugs.

Fungus picture? Time to go to vet?

Here's a short video of Frank from the end of this mornings shower. You can see the eye licking/rolling that I'm wondering about.

Fungus picture? Time to go to vet?

Ah, you're saying additional showers for hydration outside of the cage so it stays dry. Makes sense, I'd been resisting putting him in the shower because he doesn't like being handled, and I'm sure he'll go all bright when he's in an unfamiliar environment, but he'll be fine. Tomorrow he gets a...

Fungus picture? Time to go to vet?

Frank went to the vet on Thursday. The doctor thought the discoloration on his casque is a healing injury to the skin, maybe abrasion from rubbing. She didn't feel he's showing edema, the tissue is firm and symmetrical. She felt he was in good condition overall. He's 145 grams (about 19 months...

Thanks for the tip on culling method. They wouldn't do very well here, it's pretty cold and wet. I was kidding, never set any loose. Never intentionally that is, I have found one on my sleeve a while after after cleaning the bug cage. :-)

Fungus picture? Time to go to vet?

MeruJack and jajeanpierre, Thanks so much for taking time to respond. I've lurked here a bunch, then gotten overwhelmed by the firehose of information (oft same sad stories and problems) and gone off somewhere else, but I've noticed some consistent good contributors, and both of you are those...

Fungus picture? Time to go to vet?

Thank you for those tips. Definitely has a great appetite for the pink wing stick bugs, but they only eat blackberry leaves and can't be supplemented that I've found. I look for west coast suppliers to try to minimize shipping time, but pickings have gotten slim. Using eBay you can search by...

Fungus picture? Time to go to vet?

I don't mean to be defensive, but the reason I've been going with the LoD is because I'm not particularly successful at getting any dust at all into their diet. The crickets typically don't get eaten soon enough for much dust to be left, which is why I tried using a single dust. I can't be sure...

Fungus picture? Time to go to vet?

I didn't realize I had replies, wasn't getting notification... Thank you for all the information. I didn't realize how long my list of problems is. I guess I'm doing more than one thing wrong. He's got a vet appointment in about 38 hours. Watering that infrequently? I may have to turn the...

It could be the start of a shed, but he usually sheds pretty quick, in a couple of days, and this has been like that for at least 10 days I think. Watching...

Dragonstrand Atrium converted to Breeder style

Here are some pictures of a build I'm working on to make a Dragonstrand Atrium cage with solid walls. The panels and strips are from TAP Plastics, who will cut panels to a 1/16" of an inch. I can provide more specifics if anyone is seriously going to try this themselves. If you do, my...
