Mantis as Feeders

Well I raise Mantis to feed my Chameleons. I have some big chameleons so I try to raise some Mantis ( Chinese mostly) to adulthood to feed them. I got to tell you though I get worried every time I feed one the the dang things it is going to hurt my chameleon in some way. Their for arms have knarly spikes on them and lately when the chameleons have the mantis in their mouth the mantis look like they are biting the chameleons.

I have crushed a few mantis heads in panic lately and I'm wondering if I should be clipping the forearms off before feeding them to my guys.

Does anyone who feeds off mantis have any thoughts on this?

I cut there arms off and I know what you are talking about when they are biting the cham when they first get them i watched one of my boys eat a mantis and the head of it was biting his neck:( and the head stayed why the rest of the mantis was eatin... It took a few min.to get the head off his neck skin that thing was biting hard...

I have the same concerns, so I dont feed off late instar / adult mantis unless they are deformed or slowed down (refridgerator) enough that the chameleon isnt going to have issues. I know others remove the forearms, but that seems an extra cruelty to me.
