This is a continuance of my previous thread. I decided to start a new one because that one was starting to sink and it was not very specific.

So, I have managed to get a picture. My apologies for its poor quality - but I think its good enough to at least get the basic idea across:



His other eye is roughly the same.

Anybody have any ideas?

It is hard to tell in the pic, but if that is remotely red looking VET ASAP. Can you get a better pic?

yea, I'll try to get a better picture tomorrow - the chams are tucked into bed right now.

The coloration is an artifact of the camera or the lights or something. The puffy skin around his eye is not discolored in any significant way, except perhaps that it is perhaps slightly paler like its got liquid underneath it.

He has been to the vet and gotten a pretty thorough "Eye, nose, and throat" type exam and there were no signs of infection. My vet wanted to do a blood test next but I haven't been able to afford it. My vet is one of the better exotics vets in town, but he's not a cham specialist by any means. Also, his style is very methodical and "lab oriented". A full go-around with him usually costs several hundred dollars.

Unfortunately, Kermit was very pissed and kept his eyes sucked in the whole time so the vet couldn't actually see what it looked like. He did say that the chams he's seen with infections are not able to draw it in. Kermit, on the other hand, could. If I understood him correctly, he was basically saying that it wasn't any sort of foreign material. Other than that, he didn't have many guesses to offer me about what might be going wrong.

The condition is fairly stable at this point so that's good. We've been hydrating him more and he did pass that huge urate. Maybe there's an excess of something in his system that's causing him to retain fluid? As I mentioned in the other thread, I've caught him rubbing his eyes a few times. That could be the cause (i.e. irritation) or simply due to the fact that it feels like something he could rub off.
