Lost Chameleon in house!

Hi everybody!
Right now, I'm a little bit frantic....We allow our 2 year old Veiled to free roam in our house for 2-3 hours daily since he is big enough and he's easy to find and he's very hard for him to squeeze into small crevices..etc. due to his casque height and overall body size.
It's been one day already and I am searched high and low thruoughout our house!! No front or back outdoor doors are open to allow him to get outside! Even the door leading out to our garage is also closed.

Has anybody lost their Chameleon in the house and have found it over a time period of time??
I'm not so worried about him getting depleted because he's not eating now....He's slightly obese so hopefully that will help him survive....I'm just so nervous regarding hydration....not getting any water now. We live in Southern CA . We do set our air-conditioner to turn off at 78 degrees but it still gets quite warm inside our house.

So, I continue looking and searching everywhere....It's like he vanished in thin air!! Any encouragement or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Christine

look behind curtains, couch, mini blinds, desks, tv because its warm. try putting a house plant in there or a house tree in the middle of the room his cage is in. if he sees it he will most likely go to that tree and climb in it and to the middle or top. either a scheffelera tree or benjimine ficus.

Always look behind the TV lol or computers or places with wires. They will also go up blinds and sit up high or climb up a window that is open and sit on the screen.

Hermie used to work his way out of his cage on a daily basis. I used to PANIC like crazy because I couldn't find him ... would tare my apartment apart looking for him (and then worry that I was inadvertently trapping him some place...). So finally I just decided to stop frantic looking but ...

1. leave his cage open and lights on. One time, two days later, herm found his way back up into his cage and when i got up the next morning he was sitting on a branch (and probably laughing at me as I'd been literally hysterical looking for him the night before...)

2. Hopefully you don't have cats or dogs? this can pose a problem...

3. Check lamps, cords, (esp. attached to the TV), curtains, book shelves ... all those sorts of places. Clothes in a closet work nicely too for climbing.

In the past Herm has always shown himself (usually chilling on a lamp shade or on a cord) within 48 hours.

I found my cham this morning hanging from the curtains. I sat the room with no noise at all and just listened. I could hear her little nails scraping and followed the noise.

They can hide in the weirdist of places, think like a cham and as others hav said b4 behind curtains, behind boxes, look up high etc.

i let my cham wander around my room the other day, n lost him for a couple of hours, eventually found him hiding in my wardrobe! the door had been ever so slightly ajar and he'd manage to push himself though, climb up my clothes and decided he was goin bed in there coz it was nice n warm n dark. lol cheeky cham!

At least he is inside. I have lost one outside and it took me 2 days to find. They just sit and watch laughing there ass off hahahaha. Youll find him. Think of it as a trek through the forest in search of the great chameleon. Have fun. After I found mine and the stress was over I thought it was kinda fun searching. She was over 50 yards away in a HUGE tree.
