A live birth

I discovered one of the elliot females giving birth today and couldn't resist taking a few pictures. Here are the first few minutes of one newborn's life:

No, that isn't a huge turd..

Wiggle wiggle, gotta get out of the sack..

Getting there!

Bursting the sack makes for a slippery slope!

Looks like a water slide..

That is so cool Heika. I never seen a live birth sequences that well done.
Good luck with the babies!

Great!!

I never knew that chams gave birth to live babies and not eggs. That is so awesome. It seems easiler than this egg thing.

Thanks, everyone. Looks like she is all done now. 9 were born alive and frisky, and one born at about half the size of the others with problems. That little guy didn't make it, but the others seem to be doing great. This is a welcome addition.. I have a CH clutch of the same species that is about 4 months old now, and these little CB fellows are unrelated to them. With any luck, I should be able to have a new breeding group in a few months. Great species, right at the top of my list as a favorite.

Will, I'll shoot a pic of that plant soon. It is a croton variety with curly leaves.. it has survived quite well as a chameleon plant.

Mom is doing great! She was hungry when she finished, and ate several silkworms.

Outstanding! It's nice to see she is doing so well.

I call dibs on all of the babies! :p :p  Plus the ones from the other litter. You have my address.

Have fun!

Yeah, that is Jane Wayne, and she is a real trooper. She is doing great!

I keep telling you I will box them up and ship them overnight in a box labled fruitcakes.. :D

Your photography is so amazing, and the photo series is incredible! Congrats on the delivery! Plus that plant is absolutely gorgeous!
