Leaving the Cage

If your cham started out in a cage and had never free-ranged, how long did it take your cham to feel comfortable enough to leave their enclosure? How did you help them to feel more at ease?

My cham hated coming out. When he reached 6-7 months old he got very bored of his enclosure, my guy likes to patrol/explore. I got two large trees for my living room, and would bring him out to explore every day. Now whenever he sees me he throws his arms out, holding himself up with his hind legs/tail and climbs onto me to come out. He would probably prefer to free range 24/7.
