Lamp/Perch Question

Okay, so what is a good watt bulb for a veiled chameleon? Currently I have a 75, but recently I have gotten a new perch for him, and it is closer to his bulb, I'm concerned it may burn him if the bulb is too hot. The highest he can get on his new perch is about 3 inches from the top of his cage, where his lamp lies.

It depends on the type of bulb, how close the cham's basking area is to the bulb, the room temperature, the type/sex of the chameleon.

Choose whatever wattage of bulb that will produce / provide for the correct basking temperature.

In your case, for an adult male veiled, measure the temp at the basking spot and adjust the distance from heat bulb or type of bulb in order to achieve a daytime basking spot up to 96F/36C. Keep in mind that the top of his casque will be higher and thus likely get hotter than the perch/branch
