Really? Did the animal lay in a laying bin or in a plant in the cage? It is definitely Kinyongia multituberculata but the rostral process seems very long for a female so I assumed male. Interesting.
Yeah, right? (btw, her name is "Horny"). Her eggs were slightly more oblong then usual multi eggs. Should I introduce her to one of my males? I figure the worst thing that could happen is she beats him down.
Oh she laid in a soil tub. She was really not showing at all, but all my other females had just laid and she then started pacing her cage so I just chucked her in the bin and she went to work.
I'm not doubting what you said - I think there are a few other 'manly' female chameleons on this board. (The threads/examples escape me at this moment. I'm sorry) However it would be remiss if one of us didn't ask; perhaps the eggs you found were remnants from one of the true females' very recent clutches? Multituberculata males, as you well know, are very active so while the digging behaviour isn't normal but also isn't necessarily out of character.
I'd like to see more pics for sure. S/He is a beauty! Very robust.
Ha! Good thinking. No it's not possible. I saw her excavating, which is the only way I would ever be able to find the eggs. Besides, there were 16 eggs so that's basically a full clutch in my experience. What's best, in this case, is she is WC and one can only imagine what the stud looks like. Anyway, the eggs are from April I think so well see what's up soon enough.
