Just got a Mellers Chameleon...

I just recently purchased a juvenile Mellers at the Reptile show that was by my house the other week and its doing great so far. I was a little weary of purchasing it because I heard they were extremely sensitive to stress especially as babies, but they were CB in florida about 5 months old (so the gentleman told me) and were a decent price. I have no reason to disbelieve him that they were not captive bred? I've never seen babies imported, just adults and he had quit a few along with some other species and they all looked extremely healthy. But I've had other types of chameleons & many other reptiles before so I decided to go with it confident wth my knowledge. I was curious if anyone else has had a Mellers, or currently has one and raised it from a baby. Just wondering what I should look forward to and any precautions I should take. Right now hes in his first stage setup, a 65gal. reptarium with vines and pothis plants. I noticed it drinks a ton, misting about 4 times a day at least. I got a lot of info from melleridiscovery.com which was very helpful. But thanks for any info anyone throws in here!

is it one of the mellers mike at fl chams has? i got one back in june and i find that if given the proper conditions they are very hardy and hungry little guys good luck with it they are one of my favorites

If you go to advanced keepers....

you will find a section on Mellers, on this forum, that will have a ton of information and the ID of many who might have your Meller's brothers and sisters. Check out FL Chameleons to see if that is the guy you got yours from. If so, you have a good start!
Since you have been to MD, you certainly know your homework. Most of the Melleri keepers on this forum are the best. They are quick to help when you need it. Come back with pictures and weights over time.
Take care.
