Jackson neonate survival 20%!?!

I was on here today looking for information on the survival rates for Jackson neonates and saw that there's a 20% survival rate and many of them die from 1-5 months and not right after birth. Does anyone have experience if this is true? I have 14 babies alive right now that are less than a week old out of 23 total born (born early. 6.5 months after mating- p.s. I didn't mate them, previous owners did but noted dates).

The 3-5 month stage is called 'fragile'. They have yet to determine the exact cause. Many breeders have experienced the same phenomenom. Even the most experienced. It is the reason I gave up on them. Too heart felt. Just watch your temps, supplements, RH, and stagnant air. Good luck.

Do you know if panthers are any better?

Yes panthers are better. I don't know why Jackson's are so fragile and sometimes die suddenly. It has been a topic on here for years. Maybe on of the biologist or vets have an answer. But yes panthers and veileds are easier to raise from birth

That's good news. I actually decided not to breed my jackson's and instead breed my panther. There were several reasons for this decision, but I'm really glad I decided that knowing that not all clutches are this heartbreaking. I have been pondering this survival issue all day and I think that maybe it's because jackson's are born when the MOTHER is ready and not necessarily when the babies are ready, but when they are hatched from an egg they hatch when the BABIES are ready. Just my theory anyway.
