Hey hows it going. i have a veiled cham he's bout 5 and something months old. I've had in in a plastic container, the guy at the store said it would be fine till he grows a little.. with his lights fake plants and some wood pieces. till a couple days ago i go clean his container then put him back, and a little later i started to notice my chameleon was walking around like he was drunk. not kidding this creature looked like it was bar hopping after 40 beers and some shots. and he would go around in circles onto of the wood block like a dog chasing his tail. like wtf man, so he then stopped eating maybe 1 cricket or 2. poop start to turn a little orange, till a couple days ago it started to get more white than orange. i haven't seen that much in a day or two of poop. he sorta drinks water whenever thee **** he wants . umm so now i got a 36 inch by 18 and 18 cage. with a 60 watt bulb and his uvb. and added a live ficus with some more wood still need to get more tall branches. oh oh and i added a rainforest sound thing in the background. someone said that helped is it true. he's looking a little better. he still freaks the **** out when i put him in the cage he starts to climb the walls upsidown like spiderpig. what could be wrong with him

He is getting adjusted to his new home, just let it be and dont bother him for at least a couple of days, what troubles me is that the cham was in a plastic container?, for how long?, how big of a container?, as for the walking maybe he has MBD its a disease of the bones and he might not be able to walk straight and if you dont take care of it, he might stop walking altogether

@Scoobthenob
Male, Veiled hes 5 months old. had him since he was probably a week or two old.
I've had him for 5 months now
i take him out for 5, 10 minutes a day so he can get used to being handle
i give him repti Calcium without D3 2 times a week, and Reptile vitamin with D3 once a week
i mist him every morning when i turn the lights on for a good minute then when i get home around 4pm mist him again and then thought that time till night time ill mist him a little here and there. until i turn the lights off.his fecal matter has been changing from black/white to black/light orange about a week ago and 1 day ago i saw his las dropping it was black/white with a tiny orange part. he started acting up when i dipped his legs in water the day i was cleaning his old container where i kept him until i upgraded to a 36 inch tall mesh cage cage. i kept him at 80f in the day an 69 at night. humidity would always be at tropical 50% have a 25 uvb T8 fluorescent located in Florida U.s i have a live ficus small that i just added. and the cage is about 3 feet of the ground

Thank you for supplying more info, based on what your saying I think he is just enjoying his new environment, the orange in his urine is possibly as a result of slight dehydration, I would monitor this..

You say you mist in the morning, then again when you return at 1630 ish..

Assuming this is for school or work then that is 7-8 waking hours without water..

I am making assumptions ofc...

I would consider investing in or making a dripper to run for the period your at work to give him a constant supply of water.

the container was about 1 Ft 1/2 tall with a 25 watt light and the 25uvb T8 fluorescent with some fake plants at the time and some cured wood block i got from the reptile store and he was in the container for 5 months probably till yesterday.but I've been giving his crickets with calcium and reptile vitamins. I've seen him drink water. and when i touch him he goes crazy like a kid on a rampage because he didn't get a toy. the problem seem to have started half an hour after i dipped his legs in warm water it wasn't hot or cold. and it was only his legs and tail i kept is head out. i thought they would take a bath after i saw videos of chameleons swimming

no thank you man I've been going crazy I've had the the size of half a pinky now he's as long as my middle finger i don't want him to die.

more info please

Could you supply picture of your current setup?

Chameleons like to be as high up as possible a lot of the time, they also like to have a basking spot near to the heat/UVB bulb, or they have a having of hanging upside down under the light whilst they slowly cook.

As for the behaviour your describing are you able to take a film of it?

oh yeah i should make a dripper until i can go buy one. yeah let me figure out how to upload to the thread. i have some photos in a folder in the profile

Don't know this has anything to do with your chameleon's issues but you should be dusting the insects at almost every feeding wih a phosphorous - free calcium powder to help make up for the usually poor ratio of calcium to phosphorous found in most feeder insects.

It's recommended that you only dust twice a month with the phosphorous - free calcium D3 powder. D3 from supplements can build up in the system and lead to overdoses. D3 produced from exposure to UVB won't likely build up in the system as long as the chameleon can move in and out of the UVB when it wants to.

It's recommended that you dust twice a month with a vitamin powder that contains a beta carotene (prOformed) source of vitamin A. PrOformed sources of vitamin A cannot build up in the system and lead to overdoses like prEformed sources of vitamin A can. This leaves you in charge of how much prEformed to give it.

Please post a recent photo of your chameleon.

wow. errrr...

Let me find you a picture of how a viv should look and some reasons why...

My Yemen is asleep now so It will not be my set up... I will post mine tomorrow.

Similar to mine...

this gives places to hide... and easy access to those upper levels where he will love to bask..

With out going upside down and cooking himself to medium rare on his belly.

thats a really nice set up man. i wanna find more live ficus for him i posted a link to a picture i just took of him

Time is of the essence, the range on the UVB bulb will suck.

you need to give him somthing to bask on about 6"-12" from the UVB source.

so a Branch of some sort 6 inched under the uvb bulb. he's been climbing up and down constantly all day not stop

Yes you really want

You really want branches at multiple levels...

Here is a hunch...

The fluorescent tube is the manufacturer Zilla?

or can you specify the manufacturer?
