You just don't get it, do you? The reason why you would not do that, is because chameleons DON'T WORK THAT WAY.

Why would they bother with the whole colour changing morphology if they were just going to absorb heat from branches through their belly? (They go darker to absorb more heat from the sun).

Why would they flatten themselves side-on to the sunlight so that they increase the surface area for heat absorption?

Have you ever actually observed a chameleon?

Good luck with your efficient thermal experiments...

Tygerr - At this point it is fruitless arguing with someone who obviously doesn't have the knowledge needed for proper chameleon husbandry. I pity his cham. If he were smart (obviously that's questionable), he'd research more and sit back a read what others have to say here before earning the title of "POST WHORE" without the cham knowledge to back up his statements. He's done nothing more than succeeded in pissing a lot of people off and will probably end up getting kicked off the board. If I were you I wouldn't waste the energy it takes to type a response to him anymore.
