Chamero is on a distinguished road
Free Ranging Cham

The last couple of days I have come into my room to notice my cham outside of his cage sitting near the window on the blinds. I always leave the cage door open so he doesn't feel locked in and so he gets more comfortable with whats outside his cage. I figured that with the door open, he can come out and explore as he wants. He will be 6 months next week and I his new outdoor cage is in progress for the Feb. move.
Since he first left his cage( 2 days ago) I have raised the cage to equal the blinds height. Well, after moving him back into his cage already twice today, he is back out exploring the plants on top of his cage. I was just wondering if this is normal and healthy behavior. My lights go off at 6:30 (30mins from now) and I don't know if its ok for him to stay out for the night. Also, since he's been out most of the day, he has hardly touched his food. Is this him telling me its time for a new cage or is something else bothering him? I would like to just let him roam as he wishes but would gladly move him back in if there is something I am overlooking. Just curious.

i used to let my chams free range all day and all night i think there was a time of about 4 month that did not step foot in there cage. but then we got the cats and i had to move them back in, just make sure they have a spot to worm up at and have some small or large trees for them to explore and when it comes to feeding him just put some crickets in a tall drinking glass and hold it in front of him for a min he will eat. just keep a eye out for any hazards around the ROoM the he could get hurt on, besides that it should be just fine.

If I'm at home in the office, I let my veiled out to roam, He can't go very far so I don't worry, He just likes claiming more territory. I wouldn't leave him out overnight though.

Also I think it's a healthy sign that he actually roams. He doesn't get out and never go back in. He roams in and out patrolling his territory, on top of the cage as well as inside the cage.

Knowing this, I wouldn't let him go very far either.
