FINALLY got some good pictures of their eye problems
hey everyone,
So both my male and female panthers have been having an eye problem now for several months. i took them to a vet and was told it was a vitamin deficiency and I needed to gut load with more things like carrots and yams. I have been doing that for some time now, and have seen very little improvement. They both do not seem to be in any discomfort, and both are moving, eating and drinking normally. They just seems to keep one eye closed often. They open it when they eat or move around, but if they are relaxing they keep it closed. I dont see any fluid or puss or anything. I have been trying to get some good photos of their eyes and have been having trouble, but I think I finally got some good ones today. Any ideas what is wrong/ what I can do about it? Thanks!!! edit 1.jpg edit 3.jpg edit 4.jpg edit 5.jpg edit 6.jpg I couldnt get any with the females eye open, but if I get a good one ill post it. Thanks again everyone!

I am no vet but my personal feeling is that your female doesn't have a vitamin A deficiency. I say this because it looks like she had a good full clean shed. Vit A has a lot to do with cell reproduction and I personally have found that when chams are fed feeders high in A they shed more often and completely, when they don't have enough A they tend to have patchy more irregular sheds. I honestly feel that it is an eye infection and I would go with Fortaz. It isn't very harsh on the animal and it does wonders with infections.
Good luck and let us know what you find out. Chris

are they housed together? Might be a minor eye infection, how long has it been? Do they appear healthy but just eyes close.. both eyes or 1?

No they are not housed together...hence why they have different lights.
The female seems to be shedding well, but my male has been having irregular sheds like u mentioned. He shed the bottom half of his tail a few weeks ago, and he shed his spine area last week, but thats it. But if it is an infection, what is Fortaz and where can I get it?

I didn't read the light part.. you can try this. I've tried it for my veiled and it works for me.

Is that ointment used for eye infections? Is there anyway I can know it is an infection forsure? If its not an infection and I use that stuff could it cause any harm to them?
