Dubia Care Sheet

I am trying to establish a roach colony and am slowly getting over my hesitation at handling these critters. While Googling I found a great care sheet so I posted it on my blog so anyone interested can read it. It has all the information one needs to raise a healthy colony. I can't wait to give up the crickets!

Mine aren't the quickest breeders but I'm also looking forward to getting off crickets!

blah. :( Nevermind.

My husband said he would divorce me if I started a roach colony in the house. LOL

They don't climb(mostly), you can keep them in a dark place, hide them somewhere in a closet that he'd never look in, etc.

If you use a heating pad and get thier temps to 85-90 they will breed and grow like weeds! A huge differece over room temps!

i thought for sure mine would too. but when i told him how much i was spending on crickets, and that i'd be saving that money he was fine with it, so long as i assured him they wouldn't be escaping. i put my roach container inside a larger one as an extra protective measure (also helps to keep the heat in and to keep it dark) hubby even got a kick out of forcing my teenage niece to look at them and watching her squirm!!!!

thanks for the care sheet!

just got my dubias in the mail! im excited to see how she likes them!
the adults are huge! bigger then i exspected.
plus i got some reptaid.. so i inject the roaches? one at a time?

Keep the huge Dubia if you want to breed them! Those are the mommas and poppas. Poppa has wings, I believe the Females do not, from looking at my new guys.

Feed off some of the smaller ones. I gave my Veiled a few of the pinky nail sized and he liked them. White ones are freshly molted.

I got my Dubia's in the mail today myself...only problem is! I was kinda crossing my fingers that the website I went through would kinda forget about the whole "dubia roaches are illegal in Florida" thing and through a couple of males in there...

BUT NO! :( (The worst part is my cham seems to really like them)

So if anyone is feeling nice *cough cough* :D

I have offered one to my male and a female and they both ran away and hid. ACK Anyone got any suggestions?

Did you try a small one, or a large one?

take a solo cup and cut off the bottom 1/2 inch

Turn a small one upside down in this bottom. it will squirm and possibly draw T- rex. err Chameleon attention

I just put a few in my cricket feeder thing, they crawled up the screen inside and Norman went OH NOES, BUGS IN CAGE AGAIN! and sniped them

Yeah, I ended up getting like 40+ females, even the nymphs are females! Hopefully someone's pregnant and will have a male or two. lol

My cham tried one last time, just as a "treat" after he finished up our cricket supply. He has a separate bowl for non-dusted treats, he knows there's always something good in it. Sure enough he looked into it, saw a freshly molted nymph and YUM! :D

P.S. Seriously if someone would be kind enough to send me a couple of males from their colony, I'd be more than happy to pay for everything. ;)

I just got mine and am letting them establish. I only have 3 males that I can tell at the moment, or id send you some :)
