has anyone taken the drain pan from lllreptiles and added a bung with a hose so that it will drain into a bucket so that it dosent leave standing water in the bottom i dont have it yet but i need to know that it is possible before i buy it. also if this has been done will you please post some pictures so that i can see how it was done.
Thanks

I have not ever used one, but I have as of today on the 2 new cages drilled 3 holes through the PVC bottom and wooden dinner tables and just placed a Home depot bucket underneath, makes life a lot simpler. my other 3 cages are on a draining system the husband built. I am sure someone else will chime in if they have used them. Gd luck.

Go to the search tab, change the function to "titles only" and type in: "drainage". There are multiple threads on this exact product and ways to modify it.

sweet i found exactly what i needed and it should work great i just needed to see it done before i bought one instead of building one

sorry i will post how i do it in a day or two i just need it to look clean so ill post a step by step of how i do it and how i set up the mist system. i will also look again and see if i can find the post that gave me the idea when i get back home so just stay posted for now....:D

I have a small cabinet that i used to have my stereo on but now replaced it with my cage and I drilled a couple of 2" holes staight through it and the drawer a 5 gallon bucket in the cabinet underneath to catch the water and pour out a couple of times a week. Im trying to figure out what to do later when i have to use a larger cage with a wider base since the cabinet is only 18" x 18" x 28"

what do you mean by "bung"??

Here's what I did. I got a 3/4 white PVC slip to thread sprinkler fitting and some of the PVC glue. I used a step drill bit and drilled a hole in the in the bottom of the tray at the back in the middle. The hole needs to be as close to the same diameter at the PVC fitting. I glued the fitting into the hole flush so the the water will drain easily. (Wipe excess glue off inside of tray and let dry 24 hours) I threaded a 5/8 hose barb into the fitting and attached some 5/8 hose to it. I then got a Home Depot bucket and drilled a hole through the lid with the step bit to the exact size as the hose and ran the hose into the bucket.

It's been working fine. I drain two cages into the same buckets. I put something under the front of the tray to get the water to drain to the back and out the hole. It is real easy to lift the lid on the bucket and empty and the lid keeps the smell down.

I picked up a tub drain at home depot. Cut a hole in the bottom of my floor. Sealed the drain with screening to. Keep anything but water from entering it and hooked some 1" PVC pipe to it. The drain runs off to a bucket.

As for how to get the water to run to the drain...

I used a piece of corrugated plastic (again home depot) for the base and put a heavy enough plant close to the drain to slant the floor in the right direction. Nice and simple and works great. I also added a valve on the end of the pipe to shut it off when I want to pull the bucket and empty it.

first one is the finshed product the second is a pic of the pan the 3rd is a pic of what i like to call the bung the forth is the bucket the is hidden behind the enclosure
