Depressed dragon?

Hey guys I just got my dragon about 10 days ago and for the most part he has just been laying around and he has only eaten a tiny amount. He is 2 years old and the person I got him from raised him from an egg so I'm just wondering could be depressed from not being around her? I know they can take over a week to get use to a new place but he's not really moving eating or even looking at me any more. Any advice?

Hi, I've only had my little guy for 30 hours now to be exact lol. From the person I received him from had him for a year. Yesterday he spent the whole time basking. Didnt eat, didnt drink, or anything. So it must be depression too

It's normal for that to happen for up to like 10 days but mine is not basking he's not doing anything but hiding under his log. The first 3 days he was acting kinda normal like one would but for the last 7 or 8 days he has just been kinda laying there not even picking his head up the only reason I know he's alive because I can see him breathing and blinking.

My Rankins (like a dwarf beardie) gets depressed too, and I've had him years. Every couple of months I change his viv setup around and he'll charge around like a mad thing for a few days. He has really benefitted from me getting in a big variety of feeders since getting my chameleon Ivy. He likes hornworms and silks but loves chasing fluttering things like the waxworm moths and hawk moths. He's never been very interested in veggies but after he tried eating my fingers when I wore yellow nail varnish, I've been offering yellow peppers, squash and mango, mixed up with shredded greens. A few worms mixed in to make his salad wriggle, and he's much happier! Could be worth checking your UV bulb too though.

he may be still adjusting but also dehydrated? thats what happened to my female she sat in one spot and didnt eat or drink for a couple of days. i hand gave her water and she popped right back

UPDATE: well today he is out of his log and he is looking at me again but still didnt eat his greens. i will try to give him some water tonight and see how it goes. I think part of the problem was his face was shedding bad. now that im looking at him all the skin on his head is peeled back to his ear holes or what every they are called. i will keep yall posted on my little drossk's condition

It can take a couple weeks for them to resume their normal behavior. Nothing to worry about yet.
I know you are feeding greens, but what else are you feeding him? Is it the same as the previous owner fed him?

He's not depressed, they go through burmation and they can go weeks without eating or drinking. They are not nearly as fragile as chameleons, and they are fine in this state. Mine is 11 years old and he does the same thing every 6-8 months or so.

The op recieved this dragon from Lee. If it helps any Lee (my sister) fed him primarily crickets and dubia. She is very heavy on greens at his age. Lee has raised beardies for over 20 years. The dragon is very healthy, & the op has Lee's cell phone if he has questions.

Lee is also the person to whom the Springfield Zoo refers all reptile rescues in all southwest Missouri.

I'm feeding it the same greens and crickets or trying too. I didn't want to call lee untill I got some info from here first. Didn't want to bother her if the info could be gathered from another source over night while sleeping. He is acting a lot better now I'm just going to keep offering him crickets and greens every day with a tiny amount of water In a dish just incase he wants to drink form a dish. I'm sure he will eat when he is ready. The only thing that got me worried was when he was not getting out of his hiding spot but now he is.
PS: I'm sure I'm just freaking out over nothing being a new owner and all.

Sounds like the dragon just needs some time. I would offer live food every other day and remove within 15 minutes at this point. Keep temps within range and greens in the cage at all times. He will eventually come around.

Have pics of the set up? If you dont mind answering these question to be sure he will acclimate in a timely manor. https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/

This is me saying I am sorry. I am worse than a mother. I jump to my much older sister's defense like mommy bear with her cub. Lee would be shocked I jumped in and publicly defended her. I told her to give you a call. Again sorry.

Lol not a problem at all. I kinda did make it seem like I didn't trust his health but I really do. That's why I'm asking if it was just like a mental thing. I know lee said he got depressed when she took his favorite rock out of his tank(she game me that rock for. Him btw lol). I just wanted to know if he could just be depressed that he is not around the person he saw every day of his life up untill like 12 days ago. I know I would be. Lee even told me that before she brought him to me she was just walking around he house cleaning up with him just hanging out on her shirt.

He is very social. If it were me I would play with him every day. Lee's great grandson is 3 and he carries that dragon all over. I told lee you wanted a friendly dragon, spend a little time with him. He is used to being handled and given attention.

I planed on giving him another bath on Sunday because he is just peeling bad around his face. After his little bath time I will hold him for a while and let him get use to me doing that. I have the next few days off so I will just "play" with him for a bit. I mean after all if I can play with a cat while healing a 25 man hard mode raid I can hold drossk while watching tv lol.

WOO update: drossk is now hand feeding and is no longer hiding. I think it was just all the skin he was losing around his head that made him a little frumpy. He is acting like a sweet little man now. On a related note he hates it when my girlfriend is around when he's eating. If he sees he watching him he will stop eating untill she leaves the room hehehehehe. That's going to suck when I go on vacation in like 5 days. Because she's going to have to try to hand feed him. He does not like to eat his worms and such from a bowl
